Dario Brando

Dario Brando is a minor character who appears via flashback in STARBORD: Phantom Blood. He is a criminal low-life who managed to drive his own wife to death through his abuse, and became the single father of Dio Brando. Dario managed to land George Joestar I into his debt after the nobleman mistook his appearance at the carriage accident as an act of a good samaritan, when in truth Dario planned to strip their corpses of all valuables. As Dio became 12 years old, Dario had begun to grow terribly ill thanks to the poison that his son was secretly feeding him, and urged his son to move in with the Joestars as soon as possible as part of the debt that George needed to repay him. He died soon after from the poison he had ingested.

Dario is the motivation for Dio, as the fact that he is connected by blood to Dario greatly displeases him and thus he wants to become successful in life to distance himself from him.
